6th World Volunteers Day Conference: "Be a Volunteer, Make a Difference"
On 5 December, 2011, we actualized the 6th of the "Volunteering" themed conferences, which we have been organizing as part of the "International Volunteer Day" since 2006.
Due to the fact that 2011 was celebrated as the "European Year of Volunteering" and the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers, this year's conference was titled "Be a volunteer, make a difference". During the conference the first "State of the World's Volunteerism Report" by the United Nations Volunteers programme was launched. The report aims to support the recognition, facilitation, networking and promotion of volunteerism worldwide. It gives an overview on voluntarism in the 21st century across the globe and clearly shows the important role of voluntarism in our societies.
