TEGV has 1 Educational Park in Van, and 3 Learning Units in Erciş, Muradiye and Çatak. We notified the provincial disaster and coordination desk established by the governorate that the doors of our park is open to them and that it is ready to provide all kinds of support within the means of TEGV.
From October 23rd, when the earthquake occurred until today, as TEGV we have endeavored and still are working hard to meet the accommodation, food and clothing needs of the victims of earthquake who amount to some 3.000 in total in our Van-Feyyaz Tokar Education Park with the support of our personnel, volunteers and donators without making any campaign.
In time, great majority of victims of earthquake went to stay with their relatives and some of them were placed to tent cities with the support of local administrations and TEGV after leaving our Park. In our park, currently the local administrations and the United Nations are trying to find suitable accommodation places for the remaining 103 victims of earthquake, because our Education Park does not have the necessary conditions for accommodation.
As TEGV, with the belief that education should not be interrupted under any circumstances, we will start our activities as soon as possible and try to help as many children as possible to be saved from the negative effects caused by the earthquake with short timed events. For this reason, we supported our Park and Units and we directed to the city of Van two of our Fireflies which were born out of the idea that "education should not be interrupted under any circumstances". Our Fireflies will start their activities in the shortest time possible with the purpose of saving our children from the negative effects of the earthquake.
Like the whole Turkey, all our efforts are for enabling that this disaster is surmounted with the least damage and for providing good moments to the children even under the most difficult conditions…
