On Monday, 23 April 2007, during a special evening broadcast TEGV organized in collaboration with the Foundation’s Corporate Communication Sponsor Kanal D, we broke an unprecedented record. Through the support of the public, we generated an income of 3,294,613 YTL in the course of the three-hour live broadcast.

Starting at 10:45 PM with celebrated TV journalist and researcher Uğur Dündar as the host, the program included the Foundation’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Cengiz Solakoğlu, our co-founder İnan Kıraç and Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen, as well as music, TV and sports celebrities such as Arda Turan, Beyazıt Öztürk, Bülent İnal, Candan Erçetin, Cem Yılmaz, Fuat Güner, Gülben Ergen, İpek Tuzcuoğlu, Tuğba Büyüküstün, Kenan Doğulu, Keremcem, Mehmet Özdilek (Şifo Mehmet), Müjdat Gezen, Nida Şafak, Okan Bayülgen, Tuncay Şanlı and Sumru Yavrucuk.

The Turkish public procured a huge and valuable support by sending SMS messages, donating to the designated bank accounts, and calling the Nakkaştepe Call Center. Aside from their pro bono appearance on the live broadcast and their personal cash donations, the celebrities supported the education of our children by promising to donate the revenues of a concert/event to TEGV. Educational Volunteers cried, “A child is changed, Turkey is changed.” And our public advocated change for Turkey.
